Program description
The Safety Intervention Grant (SIG) Program is available to any Ohio private or public employer covered by the State Insurance Fund. 💡 Tips for applicants
- Plan your matching funds carefully. You need at least $13,334 in contributions to maximize the $40,000 grant.
- Identify a specific workplace safety problem with clear injury/illness reduction potential before applying.
- Start documenting baseline injury data now. You'll need this for your one-year case study.
- Focus on equipment with measurable safety outcomes. Reviewers favor projects with clear before-and-after metrics.
- Connect early with the Bureau of Workers' Compensation program staff for guidance on eligible equipment.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Underestimating matching fund requirements or not securing them upfront. Proposing vague safety improvements without specific injury reduction targets. Failing to plan for required case study documentation from day one.
