💡 Tips for applicants
- Contact your local Food and Agricultural Development Center Network before applying. They provide free guidance on project planning and application strategy.
- Ensure your Montana Secretary of State registration (including any assumed business names) is current before submitting. Unregistered entities are automatically rejected.
- Document all project expenses carefully with dates and receipts. Only costs incurred three months prior to application submission are reimbursable.
- Demonstrate clear job creation or retention potential in your proposal narrative. The reviewers must be convinced your business has commercial viability.
- Emphasize how your project adds value to Montana-grown agricultural products. This is a core program requirement, not optional.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Applying without Montana Secretary of State registration disqualifies your application automatically. Submitting incomplete applications or failing to demonstrate commercial viability and job creation potential reduces competitiveness. Including costs incurred more than three months before application submission makes them ineligible for reimbursement.
