Can you apply?
This grant is for organizations seeking to establish infrastructure supporting the NIH Stroke Clinical Trials Network. The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) will consider applications for a National Coordinating Center (NCC) and National Data Management Center (NDMC). These centers must have capacity to coordinate multi-site clinical trials focused on acute stroke treatment, stroke prevention, and stroke recovery across the lifespan.
Applicants must have institutional infrastructure, experienced personnel, and demonstrated expertise in clinical trial coordination and data management. Organizations must be able to support the network's mission of evaluating promising therapies for stroke patients and those at risk for stroke.
This is a cooperative agreement, indicating a partnership model where NIH will be substantially involved in program direction and oversight. Applications are currently solicited through a specific RFP process, not through standard grant mechanisms.

Program description
The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) seeks to continue support for the infrastructure of the NIH Stroke Clinical Trials Network (NIH StrokeNet). The NIH StrokeNet conducts clinical trials focused on advancing acute stroke treatment, stroke prevention, and stroke recovery and rehabilitation across the lifespan. Its mission is to improve outcomes for individuals who experience stroke by evaluating promising new therapies for patients with stroke and those at risk for stroke. The program will encourage applications for a national clinical coordinating center (NCC) and national data management coordinating center (NDMC) to support the NIH StrokeNet clinical trial network.
Applications are not being solicited at this time. This notice is being provided to allow potential applicants sufficient time to develop meaningful collaborations and responsive applications for centers.

💡 Tips for applicants
- Demonstrate existing capacity and infrastructure for managing large, multi-site clinical trials before applying. NIH expects immediate operational readiness.
- Build a strong collaborative team including experienced clinical trialists, biostatisticians, data managers, and stroke specialists. These positions are critical to competitiveness.
- Emphasize your organization's commitment to stroke research and any existing relationships with stroke treatment centers nationally.
- Address how you will ensure equitable representation and inclusion of diverse populations in the stroke trials you coordinate.
- Submit letters of support from key stroke research institutions and clinical centers that will participate in the network.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Applying without established infrastructure and proven clinical trial management experience.
