💡 Tips for applicants
- Partner with state health departments and community organizations early in planning. Multi-sector collaboration is central to this initiative.
- Develop a clear quality improvement and implementation plan before writing. Show how you'll measure breastfeeding support outcomes.
- Document your hospital's or organization's current breastfeeding policies and readiness to adopt evidence-based practices.
- Review CDC's breastfeeding guidance and maternal health standards. Align your proposal with current evidence and best practices.
- Prepare data showing baseline breastfeeding rates and your targets for improvement. Strong data narratives strengthen applications.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Weak or vague quality improvement plans that lack specific metrics. Proposals without documented partnerships with hospitals or state health agencies. Unclear sustainability plan for continuing initiatives after funding ends.
