💡 Tips for applicants
- Use maternal mortality and morbidity data from your state or region to establish need and justify your approach.
- Partner early with hospitals, health systems, and community organizations that will implement the bundles alongside your agency.
- Show how you will sustain AIM implementation beyond the grant period through policy, billing changes, or integration into standard operations.
- Focus on equity and how your approach addresses disparities in maternal health outcomes for Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color.
- Include a clear evaluation plan with specific metrics for adoption, fidelity, and maternal health outcome improvement.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Weak needs assessment with insufficient maternal mortality or morbidity data. Vague implementation plans that don't specify which bundles, facilities, or providers involved. No sustainability strategy showing how practices will continue after funding ends.
