Program Objective

The goal of the Aviation Maintenance Technical Workforce Grant Program is to support education, recruitment, and development of the aviation maintenance workforce in accordance with the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018.

1) Accredited Higher Education Institution (20 U.S.C. 1001), Secondary school or high school (20 U.S.C. 7801)
2) State or local governmental entity
3) A holder of a certificate issued under part 21, 121, 135, or 145 of title 14, Code of Federal Regulations or a labor organization representing aviation maintenance workers

Award Procedure

The FAA will forward a list of potential grant recipients to the Office of Secretary of the Department of Transportation for final selection.

Use of Funds

Allowed Uses

In general, assistance under this program may be used for projects that: (1) Grants awarded under this program will. (2) Establish new educational programs that teach technical skills used in aviation maintenance, including purchasing equipment or to improve existing such programs. (3) Enhance aviation maintenance technical education or aviation maintenance industry workforce. (4) To establish scholarships or apprenticeships for individuals pursuing employment in the aviation maintenance industry. (5) Support outreach about careers in the aviation maintenance industry to: primary, secondary and post-secondary school students, communities under-represented in the industry. (6) Support transition to careers in aviation maintenance; including members of the Armed Forces. (7) Support educational opportunities related to aviation maintenance in economically disadvantaged geographic areas

Construction is not permitted.
