Example: Instillation of T-rail system for field seedling production
Program Objective
The intention for this program is to provide funding for state and Tribal entities to help modernize tree seedling nursery and tree orchard facilities. Investments in capital improvements to facilities and/or maintenance/upgrade of equipment can improve seedling production. By improving production capacity, these facilities can address future reforestation and seed/seedling needs.
Eligibility
Eligible Applicants
- U.S. State Government
- U.S. Territory Government
- Federally Recognized Tribal Government
State forestry or equivalent State agencies and Federally Recognized Tribes. Puerto Rico, the United States Virgin Islands, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Guam, the Trust Territory of the Pacific Islands, and territories and possessions of the United States may be eligible as well as Federally Recognized Tribes.
How to Apply
Award Procedure
Non-competitive grant eligibility will be communicated directly to eligible state and tribal forestry agencies or through National Association of State Foresters.

Use of Funds
Allowed Uses
In conjunction with facility and equipment acquisitions, funding can also be used to cover salary, training, travel and contract labor in the production of seedlings or seed activities. All projects must address increasing seed/seedling production and/or capacity.
Restrictions
Funds cannot be used to purchase land. Funds are not available for the production of native plant or other types of non-tree species
