This grant is for California medical examiners, coroners' offices, and law enforcement coroner divisions to improve toxicology data collection related to DUI/DUID deaths. Eligible applicants must be public agencies responsible for handling deceased individuals who died while driving or as a result of being struck by a motor vehicle. Activities funded include collecting biological samples (blood, urine, tissue, saliva) from deceased individuals and conducting testing for alcohol and drugs. Budget categories include personnel, equipment, consultants/contracts, and other direct costs.
Program description
The Advanced Practice Healthcare Scholarship Program is a scholarship where eligible applicants may receive a scholarship of up to $25,000 for one year of their educational program in exchange for a 12-month service obligation and providing direct patient care in a qualified facility in California upon graduating.
