💡 Tips for applicants
- Contact your CDC PRC program officer early to understand which SIP aligns best with your center's current research.
- Use real-world data and settings to demonstrate feasibility and public health impact of your proposed intervention or resource.
- Link your project clearly to reducing major causes of illness, disability, or death in the U.S.
- Focus proposals on translation and dissemination—these are supplement funds for applied work, not basic research.
- Emphasize how your SIP will inform actual public health practice and decision-making in your target area.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Not clearly connecting the proposed work to one of the ten specified Special Interest Projects. Proposing basic research rather than applied, practice-informed public health research. Failing to demonstrate real-world setting or feasibility for intervention implementation.
