💡 Tips for applicants
- Contact Montana Department of Agriculture early to confirm your organization's eligibility and clarify the application process.
- Clearly document the environmental emergency (fire, flood, new invasive species) that triggered your weed problem.
- Include detailed cost estimates for herbicide, seed, and application labor in your budget.
- If you cannot complete the Environmental Assessment before November 1, note this in your application—you have until January 6 to finish it.
- Plan ahead for the EA completion if funded; this is a required deliverable, not optional.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Failing to clearly document the environmental emergency that caused the weed infestation. Not including itemized cost breakdowns for herbicide, seed, and application expenses. Submitting incomplete applications without noting deferred EA completion.
