💡 Tips for applicants
- Start with a clear victim population. Define who you serve (children, elderly, specific crime types). Generic proposals are weaker.
- Show gaps and evidence. Document unmet victim service needs in your area with data and community input.
- Detail service activities. Explain exactly what victims receive and how services reduce trauma and increase safety.
- Demonstrate sustainability. Show how services will continue after grant funding ends through other revenue sources.
- Build partnerships. Include letters of support from law enforcement, courts, shelters, and other local service providers.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Proposing human trafficking services — these are ineligible. Vague service descriptions that don't clearly show how funds directly help victims. Underestimating staffing and overhead costs needed for quality victim services.
