💡 Tips for applicants

  • Focus on how your project strengthens community understanding of pipeline safety. Clearly link proposed activities to technical assistance needs.
  • Include local partners such as government subdivisions or neighborhood groups. Consortiums of subdivisions are encouraged and competitive.
  • Demonstrate community engagement. Show how your organization will facilitate informed public participation in pipeline safety decisions.
  • Address both pipeline safety and environmental protection. The program values projects addressing associated environmental mitigation.
  • Be specific about the engineering or scientific analysis you'll conduct. Vague proposals weaken competitiveness.

⚠️ Common mistakes

Applicants underestimate the scope needed for larger awards. Provide detailed analysis plans matching your requested budget. Including for-profit entities or state agencies as lead applicants automatically disqualifies applications. Ensure your organization is a local community or bona fide group of individuals.
