Program description
This project will provide $5 million in grants per year for three terms ($15 million total) to eligible non-profit organizations to fund transformative programs in one or more California prisons. The grant period begins on July 1, 2022 and ends June 30, 2025. Grants shall be awarded to fund programs that provide insight-oriented, transformative justice programs focused on increasing empathy and accountability among participants that can demonstrate that the approach has produced, or will produce, positive outcomes in correctional environments as stated in California PC § 5007.3. https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?lawCode=PEN§ionNum=5007.3
