This grant is for California farmers and agricultural organizations developing farming systems that reduce chemical pesticide use through integrated pest management (IPM). Eligible applicants typically include farmers, farm organizations, and agricultural research entities operating in California. Projects must demonstrate innovative, biologically-based pest management strategies and include on-farm evaluation, collaborative outreach, and monitoring of biological and economic outcomes.
All aspects of the farming system may be considered as they relate to pest management. Applicants must clearly identify specific insecticides or herbicides they aim to reduce and explain associated risks to human health or the environment. Projects must integrate three core elements: demonstration/evaluation, technical outreach, and biological/economic monitoring.

Program description
Types of projects funded by these loans include hangars, General Aviation (GA) terminals, utilities, GA fueling facilities, Caltrans Acquisition and Development eligible projects, or local share for a federal Airport Improvement Program grant. The maximum term of a loan is 17 years. The Department approves the amount of the loan in accordance with the project’s feasibility and the sponsor’s financial situation.
