FY2025 In FY24, 54 PMHCA programs increased access to pediatric behavioral health care through these outcomes:

Over 9,400 pediatric providers in 49 states, tribes, and territories participated in a statewide or regional PMHCA program*.

Approximately 30,000 children and adolescents were served by pediatric providers who contacted pediatric mental health care access programs.

*We had 54 jurisdictions reporting, but 5 award recipients had 0 to report for participating providers. These award recipients did not have fully operational services at the time of reporting (Palau, WV, Guam, OH, SD).

Program Objective

The Pediatric Mental Health Care Access (PMHCA) program promotes behavioral health integration in pediatric primary care and other settings. PMHCA programs provide teleconsultation, training and care coordination support to providers to diagnose, treat, and refer children with behavioral health conditions. PMHCA works to address the shortages of psychiatrists, developmental-behavioral pediatricians, and other behavioral health clinicians to support children and adolescents with behavioral concerns.

How to Apply

Award Procedure

All qualified applications will be forwarded to an objective review committee. Based on the recommendations of the objective review committee, the HRSA program official with delegated authority is responsible for final selection and funding decisions. Notification is made in writing by a Notice of Award.

Decision Timeline

  • Approval: From 120 to 180 days

Final decisions are made 4 to 6 months after receipt of applications.
