Engaging State and Local Emergency Management Agencies to Improve Ability to Prepare for and Respond to All – Hazards Events
Program Objective
The purpose of this program is to prepare the nation’s public health systems to minimize the consequences associated with all-hazards events. The Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response/Division of State and Local Readiness (Office of Readiness & Response/DSLR) works to promote the integration of public health emergency preparedness into overarching emergency preparedness for all-hazards responses. Office of Readiness & Response/DSLR works through and with national partners to develop and enhance public health emergency preparedness.
Eligibility

Applicant must have experience as a professional association of and for emergency management directors from all 50 states, eight U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia, the applicant's unique ability in representing state emergency management directors will greatly assist with emergency preparedness planning and coordination efforts between public health and emergency management sectors nationally.
How to Apply
Award Procedure
After review and approval, a Notice of Award (NoA) will be prepared and processed, along with appropriate notification to the public. Initial awards provide funds for the first budget period (usually 12 months) and the NoA will indicate support recommended for the remainder of the project period, allocation of Federal funds by budget categories, award requirements, and special conditions, if any.

response capability. The applicant will be expected to help promote, develop, and convene the integration of public health emergency preparedness into emergency management operations for all-hazards responses.

Project funds may be used to strengthen public health infrastructure through engagement with state and local emergency management agencies. This engagement will improve the Nation’s overall ability to prevent, protect mitigate, respond to, and recover from all-hazards emergency incidents and events by further preparing state, local and territorial public health systems to minimize consequences associated with all-hazards incidents and events.
