Program Objective
The Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) projects for regional and national significance support states, tribes and communities through grants and cooperative agreements. CMHS supports prevention, treatment, and recovery for Americans with mental health conditions. CMHS aims to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities; and for all people to live fulfilling, independent, and productive lives. This is achieved through (1) knowledge development and application projects for prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, and the conduct or support of evaluations of such projects; (2) training and technical assistance programs; (3) targeted capacity response programs; and (4) systems change grants including statewide family network grants and client-oriented and consumer run self-help activities, which may include technical assistance centers.

Award Procedure
Applications are awarded directly by SAMHSA to the applicant organization after a number of considerations, including but not limited to merit review, program analysis, and concurrence by the CMHS National Advisory Council.
