Program Objective

The 988 programs provide support to the 988 network administrator; states, tribes and territories in improving 988 response to contact; and the national network of over 200 local independent crisis contact centers. Thes crisis contact centers are equipped to help people in mental or behavioral health-related distress or experiencing suicidal crises via call, chat, or text 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Domestic public and private nonprofit entities, including: States and territories, including the District of Columbia; Political subdivisions of states; Indian Tribes, or Tribal organizations (as such terms are defined in section 5304 of title 25); Health facilities, or programs operated by or in accordance with a contract or award with the Indian Health Service; Public or private institutions of higher education; Public or private non-profit organizations.
