Program Objective

The America First Global Health Strategy aims to make America safer, stronger, and more prosperous by preventing infectious disease outbreaks, strengthening bilateral relationships with foreign governments, saving millions of lives and moving countries along the path to decreased dependency on foreign assistance, while promoting American health innovation around the world.

The U.S. Government via the Department of State provides foreign assistance to support global health security and health system strengthening in partner countries. Funding supports a broad range of activities and interventions, including technical assistance, capacity building, service delivery, supply chain management, workforce deployment, and program management and oversight. The program is designed to respond to evolving global health threats and priorities, allowing for flexible and rapid deployment of resources across multiple countries and regions. Activities may include support to governments, international organizations, and other eligible entities to improve public health outcomes, enhance preparedness and response capabilities, and strengthen accountability and governance systems.
