Program Objective

Program goal(s) name: Improve outcomes for girls at risk for or involved in the juvenile justice system.
Program goal(s) description: Reduce recidivism, reduce risk factors, and promote protective factors for girls who come in contact with the juvenile justice system, and place them on a path toward success, stability, and long-term contribution to society by developing, enhancing, or expanding programs and services that improve responses to girls who come into contact with the juvenile justice system.

Program objective(s) description: Develop and implement new direct service programs for girls involved in the juvenile justice system to reduce recidivism; Enhance or expand existing prevention and early intervention programs to meet the specific needs of girls involved in the juvenile justice system; Develop, expand or enhance targeted curricula for staff (i.e., probation, detention center staff, law enforcement, judges) to ensure they have the skills necessary to implement these programs for girls in the juvenile justice system.

Award Procedure

All final award decisions will be made by the Assistant Attorney General, unless a statute explicitly authorizes award decisions by another official or there is written delegation of authority to another official. For successful applicants, JustGrants will send a system-generated email to the Application Submitter, Authorized Representative, and Entity Administrator with information on accessing their official award package in JustGrants. The award package will include key information (such as funding amount and period of performance) as well as award conditions that must be followed. The Authorized Representative for the entity should accept or decline the award within 45 days of the notification.

Decision Timeline

  • Approval: From 120 to 180 days

The review procedure for applications is specified in the notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) and generally includes eligibility and responsiveness, merit, programmatic, budget, and risk reviews.

Description

This program supports the development, enhancement, or expansion of intervention programs for girls involved in, and at risk of involvement in the juvenile justice system. Funding will be used to develop and implement direct service programs for girls involved or at risk of involvement in the juvenile justice system to reduce reoffending or enhance or expand existing programs to meet their specific needs.
