Program Objective
Goal: SAC programs are established to: 1) Enhance the capabilities of states to collect, analyze, and report data on justice issues relevant to the states and the nation. 2) Provide a mechanism that supports the collection and sharing of vital justice system data among the states, and between the states and the federal government.

Eligible applicants are state agencies whose responsibilities include statistical activities consistent with the goals of the specific programs and are designated as the state Statistical Analysis Center through an Executive Order or legislation.
How to Apply
Award Procedure
All final award decisions will be made by the Assistant Attorney General, unless a statute explicitly authorizes award decisions by another official or there is written delegation of authority to another official. For successful applicants, JustGrants will send a system-generated email to the Application Submitter, Authorized Representative, and Entity Administrator with information on accessing their official award package in JustGrants. The award package will include key information (such as funding amount and period of performance) as well as award conditions that must be followed. The Authorized Representative for the entity should accept or decline the award within 45 days of the notification. Subawarding and/or contracting federal grant funds must comply with the requirements of 2 CFR § 200 Subpart E Cost Principles, the Department of Justice Grants Financial Guide, and notice of funding opportunity.

Description
This program provides funds to each state to coordinate statistical activities within the state, conduct research as needed to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and assist the Bureau of Justice Statistics with gathering data from respondent agencies within their states.

Allowed Uses
To improve the administration of justice by encouraging the development of State-level capabilities for collecting, analyzing, utilizing, and disseminating statistical information pertaining to crime, criminal justice, sex offenses, incident-based reporting, and for providing statistical information to the Federal Government for national compilations. To analyze particular criminal justice issues of current concern and significance to criminal justice practitioners, as identified by BJS in conjunction with other Office of Justice Programs components, the Justice Research and Statistics Association, and selected SAC Directors.
