Program Objective

The overall purpose of the Eviction Protection Grant Program is to support experienced legal service providers, not limited to legal service corporations, in providing legal assistance at no cost to low-income tenants at risk of or subject to eviction. This grant program plays an integral role in helping individuals and families avoid eviction or minimize the disruption and damage caused by the eviction process.

How to Apply

Award Procedure

Two, types of reviews will be conducted. First, HUD will review each application to determine whether it meets threshold eligibility requirements. Second, applications will be reviewed by panels consisting of at least three independent reviewers and a panel manager. The reviewer will review and assign scores to applications that meet threshold eligibility requirements using the Factors for Award noted in the NOFO.

Decision Timeline

  • Approval: From 90 to 120 days
  • Appeal: From 60 to 90 days
