Program Objective
The purpose of the Older Adults Home Modification Grant Program is to enhance local capacity to sustainably operate low-barrier, participant-led programs that address the home modification needs of low-income older persons and their caregivers.

Eligible applicants include experienced nonprofit organizations, states and local governments, and public housing authorities that have at least 3 years of experience in providing services to elderly adults. Nonprofit organizations are Internal Revenue Service recognized 501(c)(3) organizations.
Beneficiaries
- Specific Restrictions (Determined at NOFO Level)
Low-income older persons age 62 and over. Program must target older individuals with the greatest need. No less than one third of the available funds will be used to serve the needs of older persons in substantially rural areas.

A NOFO prescribing the award procedures will be made available by HUD Headquarters and posted on Grants.gov.

Program details & compliance
Description
Funds may be used to cover the costs of training and certifications specific to home modifications for older adults, costs associated with individualized needs assessments, costs related to exterior or interior modifications and equipment that improves accessibility and reduces risk of falls, and, as determined by HUD, any other costs related to environmental modifications and assistive devices or technologies to enhance the ability of older persons and their caregivers to function safely in and around the home.
