Program description

The CCFP Cooperative Agreement Program will provide supplemental funding to eligible State and local law enforcement agencies to support the collection of advanced crash data to inform the Heavy-Duty Truck Study. FMCSA anticipates Congress, State and local law enforcement, industry stakeholders, and advocacy groups to support this action, as the results of the Heavy-Duty Truck Study will provide an unprecedented amount of detailed crash data to inform safety management decisions and drive the development of crash countermeasures. The CCFP will carry out a series of peer-reviewed studies that focus on specific vehicle types and crash severities, starting with the Heavy-Duty Truck Study, which is focusing on fatal crashes involving Class 7/8 trucks.
