Program Objective

The Feral Swine Pilot Program will allow NRCS and APHIS to respond to the threat feral swine pose to agriculture; native ecosystems; and human and animal health in selected pilot areas.

Award Procedure

Applications are approved by the Chief or authorized departmental officers (ADO's) upon determination that the project will contribute toward accomplishment of the Agency's overall mission and meet any established project evaluation/selection criteria.

This assistance is intended to help landowners to address threats and damages caused by feral swine

Use of Funds

Allowed Uses

Partner will work closely with landowners/producers, APHIS, universities, local and state soil and water conservation districts, and state departments of fish and game, agriculture, health, and counties in joint efforts to alleviate feral swine damage. Activities covered may include conducting surveys and monitoring, baiting, education and outreach about feral swine, and eradication and control efforts, including live trapping with corral traps.

Restrictions

Assistance may not be used for ground shooting, euthanasia, aerial gunning, snares, cable restraints, foot holds, relocation, frightening devices, immobilization, reproductive inhibitors, toxicants, and any other state or locally identified prohibited techniques
