Program Objective

Safeguarding our Nation's crops and forests against the entry, establishment, and spread of economically and environmentally significant pests. Assist U.S. agriculture thrive—across the country and around the world.

Description

To protect U.S. agriculture from economically injurious plant diseases and pests. APHIS monitors and responds to potential diseases of plants and invasive species as it strives to assure its stakeholders that it is on guard against the introduction or re-emergence of plant pests and diseases that could limit agricultural production in the US and Internationally.

Conduct surveys, inspections to detect and appraise infestations, eradication and control activities, and carry out regulatory actions to prevent interstate spread of infestations and diseases.
