💡 Tips for applicants

  • Document your prior WIIN testing results showing lead presence before applying. Include specific outlet locations and lead levels.
  • Pair all supply costs with service costs. Supplies purchased without associated services are not eligible.
  • Prioritize outlets exceeding Iowa's action level for lead. These receive priority funding in review.
  • Get quotes from contractors before submitting. Include itemized costs for fixtures and installation services.
  • Apply soon after remediation work is complete. This is reimbursement funding, so have documentation ready.

⚠️ Common mistakes

Missing documentation of prior WIIN testing results showing lead presence at specific outlets. Requesting reimbursement for salaries or contractor fees without paired supply costs. Requesting funds for re-testing or initial testing activities instead of remediation only.
