This grant is for California public school districts, direct-funded charter schools, and county offices of education (COEs) serving grades 6-12. Applicants must be located in California and can only submit one application per lead agency.
The grant funds tobacco-use prevention and youth engagement programs. Applications are evaluated based on quality, district enrollment size, and available funding. Rural and urban applicants compete separately, with 25% of funds reserved for rural grantees.
At least 80% of budget must support student services. At minimum, 20% must specifically target health disparity populations. Funding is calculated at $18 per student (grades 6-12) for the three-year cycle, ranging from $75,000 to $750,000.

Program description
This grant opportunity will result in funding organizations to train Registered Nurse trainees to work in underserved communities. Such strategies shall incorporate the following elements: 1.Establishing procedures to identify, recruit, and admit registered nurse trainees who possess characteristics which would suggest a predisposition to practice in areas of unmet need, and who express a commitment to serve in areas of unmet need. 2. Implementing counseling and placement programs to encourage training program graduates to enter practice in areas of unmet need. 3.Providing preceptorship experience in an area of unmet need to enhance the potential of training program graduates to practice in such an area.
