💡 Tips for applicants

  • Start with a compelling, innovative research idea that demonstrates high risk and high reward potential. Reviewers fund bold science.
  • Clearly articulate your transition to independence and how this award accelerates your career launch. Address your readiness explicitly.
  • Provide strong preliminary data demonstrating feasibility, even if limited. Early-stage work should show solid scientific foundation.
  • Emphasize mentoring relationships and institutional support. Show how your organization backs your independent career start.
  • Keep the research strategy focused and feasible within budget and timeline. Avoid overambition that undermines credibility.

⚠️ Common mistakes

Weak or missing preliminary data makes reviewers doubt feasibility. Unclear transition strategy or lack of demonstrated independence readiness hurts competitiveness. Incremental research ideas lack the innovation this high-risk award requires.
