This grant was for Ohio-based health promotion campaigns focused on minority health disparities. Community-based agencies and organizations in urban, suburban, and rural areas could apply. Eligible activities included disease prevention education, health promotion initiatives, and highlighting grassroots healthcare resources.
The grant aimed to raise awareness about health disparities and support year-round minority health improvement efforts. Funding was limited to $3,500 per applicant annually. This program is now closed (deadline passed September 5, 2022).
Program description
Minority Health Month was created in April 1989. It was designed to be a 30-day, high visibility, health promotion and disease prevention campaign. Conducted with and by community based agencies and organizations, this celebration reaches into urban, suburban and rural areas of the State. These initiatives are funded up to $3,500 annually. Minority Health Month was designed to: · provide crucial information to allow individuals to practice disease prevention; · promote healthy lifestyles; · showcase the providers of grassroots healthcare resources and information; · highlight the disparate health conditions between Ohio’s minority and non minority populations; and · to gain additional support for on-going efforts to improve minority health year round.
