Program description

By submitting an application for this funding, all organizations agree that, if selected for g r a n t award, it will comply with the following requirements: 1. Should Governor DeWine and his administration provide guidance that limits or restricts mass gatherings at any point during June 2022, all father-child events scheduled to take place while guidance is in effect, must adhere to the limitations and/or restrictions. Should State guidance completely prohibit mass gatherings, agencies with planned in-person events shall implement their pre-planned virtual alternative. The Ohio Commission on Fatherhood (OCF) / Ohio Department of Job & Family Services (ODJFS) will not allow, support, or reimburse any agency’s father-child event that ignores State mandated mass gathering limitations, restrictions, and/or prohibitions. 2. Sign and promptly return the ODJFS grant agreement that will be provided following the ODJFS’ award announcements; 3. Coordinate with the assigned ODJFS Agreement Manager responsible for overseeing the performance of grant requirements; and 4. Include the OCF logo on the event agenda and all promotional materials distributed at the event. In recognition of the importance of involved, committed, and supportive fathers, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) on behalf of the Ohio Commission on Fatherhood (OCF) will award up to fifteen (15) mini-grants to not-for-profit organizations and/or government entities to provide father-child events during the month of June. Funding is available up to $4,000.00. Funds for the events will be made available on a reimbursement basis. All expenditures must be made during the month of June 2022. Advance funding is not available. For the purposes of this funding opportunity, a father is defined as a biological, custodial, legal, adoptive, expectant father, grandfather, stepfather, or adult male family member serving in a father role for children aged 21 or younger. Each selected applicant will be required to sign a grant agreement with ODJFS. The selected applicants will be required to submit invoices using an ODJFS invoice format and provide receipts for actual allowable costs incurred. Upon submission of appropriate invoices and supporting documentation, ODJFS will reimburse grantees for actual allowable expenditures. Funding for Responsible Fatherhood Month is only available for the June 2022 Fatherhood events and all expenditures must be made on or before by June 30, 2022. The award of funds is contingent upon the availability of funding to the State of Ohio and certification of funds pursuant to Ohio Revised Code 126.07. ODJFS is under no obligation to award any funds for this project and may cancel or postpone the selection process at any time if for any reason ODJFS decides not to proceed. All selections of applicants for funding are subject to certain legal and administrative reviews prior to being finalized. The actual number of grants to be awarded will be based on appropriated funding levels available to the program, and the number of grant applications which are in accordance with the Application Instructions. OCF shall review all applications submitted and select recipients to receive grants for the father-child events. All things being equal, OCF will recommend funding the highest scoring applicants; however, ODJFS may, at its sole discretion, take statewide geographic distribution and diversity into its selection decisions. Bonus points will be given to those applicants who have not previously received funding from OCF and/or in counties not currently receiving funding from OCF. If selected for funding, applicants must agree to participate in a social media campaign, taking photos of fathers and children who attend their event using branding from and allowing OCF to post the photos on the OCF website. Signed releases must be obtained from the fathers (included). In the event of any surplus of funds after all qualified applications are considered (e.g., an insufficient number of qualified applications), ODJFS will reserve the right to determine whether or how to distribute unused or uncommitted funds. If selected for funding, applicants shall cooperate with OCF to resolve questions, discrepancies, etc. For example, this may include answering follow-up questions about the deliverables, planned father-child events, budget, etc. All changes to plans for the father-child events shall be discussed with OCF.
