Program description
The program encourages academically-talented students, especially minority students, to pursue teaching careers, especially in teacher-shortage disciplines and hard-to-staff schools, and provides those students with crucial mentoring, guidance, and in-service support that will significantly increase the likelihood that they will complete their full teaching commitments and elect to continue teaching in targeted disciplines and hard-to-staff schools. Funds are direct appropriated to Golden Apple from the FY27 Illinois State Appropriations Act.
A portion of this funding is allocated for direct to student scholarships. Administered by the ISAC via the Illinois GATA Catalog of State Financial Assistance (CSFA 691-00-0550).
