💡 Tips for applicants
- Demonstrate clear coordination between transportation and medical services for target populations. Show measurable benefits and efficiency gains from integration.
- Partner early with Section 5310 programs and local transit agencies. Build stakeholder buy-in from the outset.
- Focus on serving older adults, people with disabilities, and low-income residents. Clearly identify gaps and how your project fills them.
- Ensure your project includes innovative elements. Explain what makes your approach different or better than existing services.
- Budget for capital improvements, not operations. Clarify the one-time investments needed and long-term sustainability plans.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Applications that cannot demonstrate existing public transit operations or designated Section 5310 status are automatically ineligible. Projects without clear coordination between transportation and medical services miss the core ICAM intent. Weak needs assessments for target populations fail to justify the proposed solution.
