💡 Tips for applicants
- Clearly demonstrate how your project directly benefits multimodal transportation and supports California's 2030/2050 GHG reduction targets. Use specific data and regional context.
- Emphasize co-benefits: public health improvements, social equity, environmental justice, and community benefits beyond transportation.
- Align your proposal with your region's approved Regional Transportation Plan and Sustainable Communities Strategy if applicable.
- Show strong partnerships with Caltrans, regional agencies, and local stakeholders to increase competitiveness.
- Budget planning time for cost-share documentation; required matching funds must be clearly identified and committed.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Applications fail when projects lack clear transportation nexus or fail to document GHG reduction alignment. Weak community equity analysis or missing stakeholder engagement letters are common rejections. Insufficient cost-share documentation or unclear local match commitments frequently disqualify otherwise strong proposals.
