💡 Tips for applicants
- Clearly demonstrate your organization's expertise in earthquake mitigation and preparedness work. FEMA prioritizes organizations with proven track records in this field.
- Frame your proposal as multi-state or national in scope. Single-state projects will not be competitive, even if they have regional impact.
- Align your activities with NEHRP's four strategic areas: Eastern region support, Western region support, professional development, and community preparedness drills.
- Build partnerships with state emergency management agencies and other organizations in your target regions. Collaboration strengthens competitiveness.
- Show how your work advances earthquake preparedness beyond a single state or institution. National or regional networks and reach are key.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Proposing activities limited to a single state or territory instead of multi-state/national scope. Failing to demonstrate your organization's critical expertise in earthquake hazards mitigation and preparedness. Submitting proposals misaligned with NEHRP's stated priorities and strategic vision.
