💡 Tips for applicants
- Clearly document the specific safety or operational issue your project addresses (flood damage, drought impact, etc.). Include photos and inspection reports if available.
- Emphasize public benefit and the number of residents who will regain safe boating access through your project.
- Provide detailed cost estimates and a realistic project timeline. Show you can implement quickly.
- Demonstrate that your facility is currently DBW-funded or managed by a public agency with clear public boating responsibility.
- Submit early to allow time for questions from the Division of Boating and Waterways staff.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Failing to connect projects to existing public boating access or DBW-funded facilities limits competitiveness. Applications without clear documentation of the triggering event (flood, accident, wildfire, drought) struggle. Weak project timelines or unrealistic budgets raise red flags for emergency funding programs.
