💡 Tips for applicants
- Explicitly connect your project to one or more of the five opportunity areas early in your proposal.
- Emphasize statewide or regional reach, not just local impact. Show how your work scales or influences beyond your immediate community.
- Demonstrate organizational capacity clearly: include staff bios, past successes, and a realistic timeline with achievable milestones.
- Use PCA's strategic language in your narrative. Mirror the terminology from their five areas of opportunity.
- Research recent Creative Catalyst awardees if available. Understand what types of projects PCA has funded to benchmark competitiveness.
⚠️ Common mistakes
Applications fail when they focus narrowly on local-only impact without demonstrating statewide significance. Weak capacity sections leave reviewers uncertain if the organization can deliver. Projects misaligned with the five strategic areas waste reviewer time and show poor research.
