💡 Tips for applicants

  • This is an invited application. Only IAFF can apply, so eligibility checks are not relevant for most organizations.
  • Focus the proposal on how IAFF will efficiently use funds to support beneficiary applications and appeals.
  • Document the scale and scope of PSOB assistance needed within IAFF membership.
  • Detail the staffing, systems, and processes IAFF will use to manage claim reviews and appeals.
  • Demonstrate past experience (if any) providing benefits assistance to firefighter and EMT families.

⚠️ Common mistakes

Failing to document capacity and experience providing PSOB or federal benefits assistance. Underestimating staffing needs for claim review and appeal support. Not explaining how IAFF will reach and serve eligible members efficiently.
