💡 Tips for applicants

  • Focus your narrative on specialized Medicaid expertise relevant to correctional systems. Emphasize legal compliance knowledge.
  • Detail how your technical assistance will reach multiple correctional leaders, staff, and administrators across jurisdictions.
  • Clearly align training activities with federal Medicaid requirements and reentry best practices in corrections.
  • Build your budget to include staff expertise in both Medicaid policy and correctional operations.
  • Demonstrate existing relationships or capacity to engage sheriffs, state DOC officials, and jail administrators as participants.

⚠️ Common mistakes

Vague descriptions of technical expertise needed for Medicaid compliance in corrections. Weak evidence of capacity to deliver training to multiple correctional agencies. Inadequate detail on how activities address federal Medicaid requirements versus general jail improvement.
