Rural Communities Opioid Response Programs

The Rural Communities Opioid Response Program- Behavioral Health Care Technical Assistance (TA) provides support for rural communities engaging in activities to combat opioid use disorder (OUD). The TA efforts will enhance the organizational and infrastructural capacity of multi-sector consortiums at the community, county, state, and/or regional levels, who can then help reduce morbidity and mortality associated with opioid overdoses in high-risk rural communities. The purpose of the RCORP- Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome project is toreduce the incidence and impact of Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) in rural communities by improving systems of care, family supports, and social determinants of health. The purpose of the RCORP-Pathways project is to support rural youth with behavioral health care challenges while bolstering the behavioral health care workforce in rural communities. The purpose of the RCORP-Overdose Response project is to address immediate needs in rural areas by improving access to, capacity for, and sustainability of prevention, treatment, and recovery services for substance use disorder. The purpose of the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT)-Access project is to establish new MAT access points to provide both medications and supportive services to individuals with OUD and/or alcohol use disorder in rural communities, enhance the MAT workforce , build community capacity and infrastructure , and ensure sustainability of the new MAT access points . The purpose of RCORP-Impact is to improve access to treatment and recovery services for SUD , including OUD. by setting up and/or expand SUD treatment and recovery services, build an SUD workforce, and work with social services to increase the percentage of patients in long-term recovery and sustain grant activities. The purpose of RCORP-Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health is to establish and expand sustainable behavioral health care services for children and adolescents aged 5-17 years who live in rural communities, and to prevent substance misuse, by establishing new behavioral health prevention, treatment, and recovery services for children and adolescents, improving the capacity of rural health care workers, and building community partnerships to ensure that this population and their families have access to community resources and human services for behavioral health disorders. The purpose of RCORP-Behavioral Health Care Support is to improve the quality and sustainability of behavioral health care services in rural communities, including SUD by addressing barriers to improve rural residents’ access to quality, integrated SUD and other behavioral health care services, supporting rural health care providers to improve the quality and sustainability of rural behavioral health care services, and improve the capacity of the behavioral health care system. The purpose of RCORP-Planning will help organizations in rural areas build a partnership network and create a strong base for SUD and related services. It also helps build capacity to develop, implement and sustain these services. The purpose of RCORP-Evaluation is to evaluate the impact of RCORP initiatives and develop evaluation tools and resources for use in rural communities and to inform future rural health initiatives. The purpose of Rural Communities Opioid Response Program – Rural Centers of Excellence on Substance Use Disorder is to identify, implement, evaluate, and share evidence-based programs and best practices for SUD prevention, treatment, and recovery in rural communities.
