Program Objective
State Physical Activity and Nutrition (SPAN) Program supports recipients to implement state and local nutrition and physical activity interventions that support healthy nutrition, safe and accessible physical activity, and breastfeeding within states and/or the District of Columbia.

After review and approval, a Notice of Award (NoA) will be prepared and processed, along with appropriate notification to the public.

Funding will support activities at the state and local governmental levels to implement evidence-based strategies and leverage resources from stakeholders and sectors (e.g., agriculture, transportation, education, business, commerce, and housing) in their populations of focus related to poor nutrition and physical inactivity.

Allowed Uses
Recipients may only expend funds for reasonable policies, systems and environmental program purposes,
including personnel, travel, supplies, and services, such as contractual to reduce risk factors, prevent and
delay chronic disease.
