Funded Projects

Examples of what this program has supported.

FY2025 The Land of Sky Regional Council received $75,000 to provide technical assistance across all 100 North Carolina counties, helping event-hosting facilities such as convention centers and sporting venues reduce food loss and waste through customized on-site recommendations. The program strengthens the circular economy by matching clients with recycling businesses, improving collection efficiency and reducing contamination to support stronger markets. By reducing landfilled waste and increasing food scrap diversion to donation outlets and composting facilities, the initiative advances the US Goal to reduce food loss and waste by 50% by 2030 while conserving natural resources and promoting community resilience.

Program Objective

Funding Priority - Fiscal Year 2025: Partnerships - Establishing and developing partnerships with states, local governments and other non-profit organizations to assist them in advancing their waste management programs, including recycling and reduction of wastes, appropriate management of wastes that are generated, and developing integrated waste management plans.
