Description
The demonstration project provides advanced information‑technology training to Job Corps‑eligible students to help them enter high‑demand, well‑paid IT careers. The project serves Job Corps students interested in pursuing modern IT skills and industry‑recognized credentials.
Through this demonstration, awardees implement and test new approaches to delivering IT instruction directly on Job Corps centers, expanding students’ opportunities to gain relevant skills, employer connections, and stronger pathways into the IT workforce.
The program is no longer making new awards, but funded projects are still actively reporting expenditures.
Mission Categories
Primary: Vocational Education
Use of Funds
Allowed Uses
The grant funds can be used to provide IT focused training opportunities for Job Corps eligible students that lead to job attachment in high growth and in-demand career pathways.
Restrictions
Under this demonstration project, awardees must provide advanced, IT‑focused training and related services on Job Corps centers to eligible students, while all direct center services continue to be provided by the center operator. Because the demonstration project limits allowable activities to on‑center, IT‑focused training and related services, a range of off‑site, non‑training, and non‑IT expenditures are restricted. These restrictions ensure that all allowable costs align with the project’s purpose and remain within the defined scope of the demonstration.
Required Documentation
Eligible lead applicants for these cooperative agreements are public or private non-profit organizations, for-profit organizations, or public agencies or organizations
