Description
The National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program (NGGDPP) was established in 2005 in the Energy Policy Act. The goal of the NGGDPP is to preserve the Nation’s geoscience collections (samples, logs, maps, data) to promote their discovery, use and reuse into the future. The mission of the NGGDPP is to provide access to samples and data to improve the breadth of information that can be used to inform decision making for the nation.
The target audience for financial assistance through the NGGDPP is the State Geological Surveys. Their participation is essential to advancing the NGGDPP mission by preserving critical data and ensuring geological resources are accessible to the public through the national catalog called the Registry of Scientific Collections (ReSciColl)
