FY2025 In FY 2025, more than 4,000 individuals received IHBG-focused training and technical assistance though ONAP-sponsored instructional resources. In addition, ONAP held in-person and virtual trainings on topics such as Basic Financial Management, Developing and Financing Infrastructure, Program Income, Contract Administration and Procurement, Financial Management, Self-Monitoring, Admissions and Occupancy, and NAHASDA Essentials.

Program Objective

To provide technical assistance for Indian tribes, Alaska Native villages, and Tribally Designated Housing Entities (TDHEs) in the development of viable communities.

Description

The purpose of this grant is to increase the ability of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Tribal or Tribally-Designated Housing Entity grantees to successfully administer HUD programs in their local communities through the development, implementation and evaluation of housing services.

Allowed Uses

Funds are available to national and regional organizations representing Native American housing interests to provide training and technical assistance (T&TA) to Indian tribes and TDHEs (and subrecipients) eligible to receive an Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) pursuant to the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act of 1996 (NAHASDA) (25 U.S.C. 4111 et seq.). Funds are also available to national and regional organizations representing Native American housing interests as well as for-profit entities to provide T&TA to Indian tribes/TDHEs (and subrecipients) eligible to receive an IHBG. Indian tribes, TDHEs, and their subrecipients eligible to receive assistance provided by T&TA providers are collectively referred to as “T&TA beneficiaries.”

Restrictions

Funding is only for the purpose of administering technical assistance.

Costs will be determined in accordance with OMB Circular A-87, Circular A-122, or 48 CFR 31.2.
