Program Objective

Inspect, ditch and drain dredged material containment areas related to dredging operations performed by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Savannah District in the Savannah Harbor

Single Source Utilized - Chatham County is the only reasonable source to perform the requirements. The County already has a well-established and comprehensive program in place and operating in the location of the disposal area. The comprehensive program operated by Chatham County, with the necessary specialized equipment including long reach pontoon excavators, already undertakes ditching and draining of surface waters as part of their protection of the public health and welfare against the breeding of mosquitoes and other pest in the same locale as the disposal sites.
