Program Objective
With respect to nonfederal lands, to develop community wildfire protection plans for communities considered at-risk to damage and loss of values or life from wildfire, and to update community wildfire protection plans that are greater than ten years old. To implement projects described in a community wildfire protection plan or equivalent document less than ten years old for the purposes of protecting an at-risk community from damage or loss from wildfire, including but not limited to wildfire mitigation, fuel reduction, prevention and response.

States, non-profits, and other organizations may apply on behalf of communities that are at risk of wildfire, or those communities may apply directly. Indian Tribes, Alaska Native Corporations, and other Organizations may also apply.
How to Apply
Award Procedure
Applications will be accepted through grants.gov or through the use of state-sponsored portals (only select states). Successful applicants will be notified of their award accordingly.
Decision Timeline
- Approval: From 60 to 90 days
- Renewal interval: From 30 to 60 days

Description
Provides for financial assistance to communities, tribes, states, and other agencies and organizations to develop and/or update plans for the protection of communities that are at-risk from damage and loss due to wildfire, and to provide financial assistance to implement the projects designed to protect those communities described in aforementioned plans.

Assistance may be used to develop a community wildfire protection plan or implement projects under an existing community wildfire protection plan.
Restrictions
Economic Development is prohibited under this program.
Required Documentation
Grant applications must include required forms, scope of work, and budget narrative.
Applicant must have a current registration at sam.gov
Matching Requirements
Community wildfire protection plan grants must have 10% match. Projects under a community wildfire protection plan must have 25% match. Match may be waived for underserved communities.
