Can you apply?

This grant is for environmental mitigation projects that address transportation facility impacts in California. State and local entities, nonprofits, and public agencies can apply. Projects must mitigate environmental effects of existing or new transportation facilities through urban forestry, resource land restoration, or habitat enhancement. Cost-sharing is not required.

Geographic scope is limited to California. Projects with multiple benefits—such as reduced pollution, climate adaptation, biodiversity protection, or water supply reliability—are more competitive.

Eligible activities include tree planting, urban greening, invasive species removal, wetland and habitat restoration, land acquisitions with conservation easements, and mitigation measures beyond the lead agency's scope.
