GenCyber Grants Program
Program Objective
The GenCyber Program provides summer cybersecurity camp experiences for students and teachers at the Secondary level. The goals of the GenCyber program are to:
- Ignite, sustain, and increase awareness of Secondary cybersecurity content and cybersecurity postsecondary and career opportunities for participants through year-round engagement;
- Increase student opportunities in cybersecurity college and career readiness pathways at the secondary level by promoting various experiences; and
- Develop student readiness for academic success while fostering lifelong skills in navigating digital spaces safely and responsibly.
GenCyber camps are open to participants at no cost.

Must be a designated National Center of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity (CAE) to apply for a coalition grant. CAEs will lead a coalition of partners to carry out the camps program. Not-for-profits may partner with the CAE to potentially receive grant funding. The principal investigator and program staff must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Program eligibility will be determined under the GenCyber Program. Additional requirements will be identified in the annual solicitation.
How to Apply
Application Procedure
An annual request for proposals is issued and posted to the GenCyber webpage (https://public.cyber.mil/gencyber/ ). Guidelines and requirements for submitting a proposal are outlined on the webpage at the time of the request. Principal investigators submit proposals for the support of conducting a GenCyber program electronically per the guidelines posted via https://public.cyber.mil/gencyber/
Award Procedure

Decision Timeline
- Approval: From 60 to 90 days
Generally within 3 months of the receipt of the proposals.

Use of Funds
Allowed Uses
Grants funds must be used for allowable costs necessary to conduct a GenCyber program. Funds may not be used for any purposes other than those approved in the grant award documents. Costs associated with the developing and delivery of the GenCyber Program: Payroll, Benefits, Travel, Meals and Lodging, Facilities, Tuition and Fees, Classroom Supplies; Office/Administrative Supplies; Miscellaneous Supplies; Equipment; Third-party Services; Additional Project Expenses; Indirect Costs. GenCyber program attendees may not be charged to attend the program. Participation in the GenCyber program is FREE to all participants. Registration fees (even if refunded) may NOT be charged to the participants.
Restrictions
The purchase of takeaway items is limited to $200 for students. This applies to any items that the student or teacher will take with at the conclusion of the program. Students may not be given laptops or chrome books to take with them at the conclusion of the program. It is encouraged that stipends be allocated for teachers. However, teachers may be provided laptops or chrome books to take with them at the conclusion of the program for the purpose of integrating materials and lessons into their classrooms. Federal grant regulations must be followed. Cash, gifts, or subscriptions are not authorized or allowed under GenCyber.
