FY2025 The Veteran and Spouse Transition Assistant Grant Program enrolled 6,044 former service members and 560 spouses in it’s first year delivering comprehensive transition support nationwide. Of the 2,222 former service members who exited the program, 88% successfully secured employment. Including 1,775 placed in full-time positions and 201 in part-time roles. Importantly, the program continues to actively serve 3,822 participants who are currently engaged in career planning, training, and resource navigation, ensuring they remain on track to achieve their employment goals. Additionally, the program’s first-year funding has been extended through February 2026, allowing VA to fully support all recipients and sustain high-quality career services in STEM, management, liberal arts, and manual or technical labor during this critical early implementation period.

Program details & compliance

Description

The Secretary of Veterans Affairs will make grants available to eligible organizations for the provision of transition assistance. Members of the U.S. Armed Forces who are separated, retired, or discharged, as well as their spouses, will benefit from receiving the services provided. Each year approximately 200,000 Service members are separated from the military. Veterans and dependents report significant challenges when transitioning from military to civilian life. To help these Veterans overcome employment and financial challenges, VA will award grants to organizations that will assist Veterans with their transition. These organizations provide the skill-building, resources, and tools they may need to achieve emotional health, physical health, and economic stability in civilian life.
